Full-time User Researcher

We are seeking a highly motivated User Researcher to be part of our User Experience Design Team shaping the next generation of mobile computing, communication and entertainment devices with novel input technologies and interactions. Apply your passion for user research to inform and guide user experience design for the new Synaptics products.

Primary Responsibilities will be to plan and conduct user research activities to gain user insights, and use the results to help make future Synaptics products simple, easy to use and elegant. Interpret data from primary user research and formulate and communicate practical guidelines for product/interaction design.

You will be expected to conduct and oversee ethnographic research, behavioral observations, requirements gathering, interviews, surveys, field visits, and contextual inquiry. You should work seamlessly as a team member on cross-functional platform/product teams and be instrumental in making sure that user centered design guides all product design activities. Additional responsibilities include working with the usability team to combine early user research with iterative usability evaluations to achieve a unified user centered design strategy and share it across the company in various formats.

Required Qualifications:

•MS in Cognitive Psychology, HCI , Human Factors, Computer Science, or other related fields.
•In-depth knowledge of user research practices and principles.
•Ability to plan and conduct user research studies.
•Ability to create testing protocols and recruiting screeners
•Ability to perform data analyses and interpret various metrics.
•Excellent reasoning and problem solving skills
•Excellent verbal and written communication
•Ability to work in a cross-disciplinary environment.

Desired Qualifications:

•Experience designing or evaluating computer input devices or mobile phone hardware or applications
•Strong understanding of GUI design concepts
•Familiarity with User Experience Product Design
•Ph.D. or industry experience doing user research (preferred but not required)
