Description

Hack Club is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that supports high school coders in starting coding clubs, hackathons, and building awesome projects. Founded in 2014, Hack Club's mission is to support, inspire and motivate teenagers from all backgrounds to become highly technical, and use their computer skills to solve problems.

Hack Club is a fun, quickly-growing start-up, run by a small team of highly-creative engineers, building programs every day for thousands of teenagers from around the world. Watch https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2BID8_pGuqA to learn more about Hack Club, and to see the sort of projects you would be supporting. Our existing donors include many high-profile, Silicon Valley tech founders who have given initial gifts.

We are looking for an engineer/educator to create and lead on technical projects for Hack Clubbers, with a strong focus on girls at Hack Club.

In this role, you would assist Hack Clubbers with their projects, as well as build your own small projects, and ship them regularly.

A couple of things about you:

You're passionate about building technical projects and find tinkering fun
You've worked with teenagers and are excited to work 1:1 with them every day
You are highly technical and work at a fast pace
You played an important role in an online community when you were a teenager.
You embody the values of a model Hack Clubber: collaborative, kind, high integrity, helpful, and curious
You have the traits of a wonderful friend: always encouraging, genuinely want to see students learn and figure out things on their own, excited to answer questions, and always wanting to help students find their own course of action
You're excited to work 1:1 with high school students every day

A formal list of your responsibilities would be something like:

Promote Hack Club to girl coders
Exploring partnerships and events with Girls Who Code, Black Girls Code and Kode with Klossy, as well as other female coding organizations.
You would also help create events with leaders in industry to inspire our hackers.
We are actively looking for candidates who have worked successfully with girl hackers before. We invite and encourage all interested candidates to apply even if they don't feel they meet all of the criteria.
Build out all girl clubs for all girls schools
Run a small team of Hack Club interns
Listen to community members, and support them to execute on their ideas

To work at Hack Club, you need to have a background in programming, but you should be inspired by making things fun. We picture our ideal candidate to be post grad and very on top of the new trends.

The compensation varies on past experience. We offer healthcare and 4 weeks paid vacation.

How to apply: Email jobs@hackclub.com with "hopper" in the subject line, 3 bullet points demonstrating why you would be exceptional for the role, and your resume.

Only registered members who have filled out their skills offered can apply for jobs.
