Description
- Test new lighting controls or light emitting products.
- Assemble lighting prototypes using hand tools and power tools.
- Assist with development of test protocols and design of related equipment / jigs used for testing.
- Collaborate with engineering or other personnel to identify, define, or solve product development problems.
- Build, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical instruments or testing equipment when necessary.
- Set up or operate test equipment to evaluate performance of developmental parts, assemblies, or systems under simulated operating conditions.
- Inspect electrical and mechanical R&D projects for quality control, process improvement, and quality assurance.
- Review existing electrical and mechanical designs to identify necessary revisions, deletions, improvements, or amendments to current products.
- Write reports and/or record data from testing to assist engineers in developing testing procedures for production IQC and OQC.
- Build prototypes from rough sketches or plans. Fabricate parts, such as frames, chassis, panels, etc., using milling machines, lathes, drill press, or other machine tools.
- Assist engineering in performing photometric & spectral reading tests for new fixtures or light emitting products.
- Assist in assembly of prototype PC boards.
- Experience working with small surface mount components.
- Assist with operation and maintenance of the Laser etching machine.
- Other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor.
QUALIFICATION AND SKILLS:
- Associate Degree or in a technical discipline (preferred).
- Must not be color blind.
- Minimum of 5 years electrical/electronic experience.
- A good understanding of electrical & electronics principles.
- Experience with wiring and use of electrical hand tools.
- Excellent manual soldering skills, including hot air reflow/rework is a must.
- Experience working with small surface mount components.
- Experience working with AC & DC systems
- Experience using oscilloscopes, variable power supplies, lab test equipment.
- Ability to work from verbal or written instructions.
- Problem solving skills, adaptability & flexibility.
- Proficiency with MS-Word and MS-Excel.
- Ability to read blueprints, wiring diagrams, schematic drawings, or engineering instructions for assembling of mechanical and electro-mechanical projects.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs.
- Ability to stand for long periods.
- Must be able to follow all company safety procedures.
- Must be able to work independently and as part of a team
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $21.00 - $26.00 per hour
